Before You Pitch: Are You Offering Profit or Progress?

When you’re preparing to pitch a product or service to someone—whether it’s me or anyone else—take a moment to ask yourself: Am I helping this person achieve profit or progress? The distinction is critical, and understanding it can make all the difference in how your offer is received.

Progress vs. Profit
Sometimes, the value you bring to someone is in helping them make progress toward their goals, even if immediate profit isn’t guaranteed. And let’s face it, certain services—like SEO strategies, thumbnail design, or coaching—fall into this category. These services can pave the way for future success, but claiming a guaranteed ROI is overselling.

Think about professionals like doctors, nutritionists, and dietitians. They guide you on how to eat, exercise, and take care of yourself, but they can’t guarantee you a long life. That’s a blessing that only God controls. What they provide is progress—steps toward a healthier, more fulfilling life—but they can’t promise perfection.

At CPRFIRM.COM, we offer services that fall into this category. We help you build strategies, improve your branding, and enhance your outreach. But like any other trusted service, we know that progress takes time, and results require effort, timing, and persistence.

What Not to Do When Pitching
Avoid pitching services—like SEO or thumbnails—as if they will bring guaranteed ROI. No one can foresee every variable in business. Instead of overselling, focus on how your service helps the person progress toward their goals. For example:

Does your service make their life easier?
Does it save them time?
Does it set the foundation for future growth?
When you pitch with honesty and humility, it shows respect for the person’s intelligence and goals.

Respect Comes With Time, Titles, and Action
Before becoming a titled man or gaining impressive experience, it can be difficult to earn respect, especially from elders. Titles like Chief, Doctor, Ambassador, or Diplomat carry weight because they signal a journey of hard work and proven value.

The Key to a Successful Pitch
Whether you’re pitching me, a company, or another client, focus on how your offering contributes to progress or profit. Remember:

Profit is tangible, measurable, and often immediate.
Progress is intangible, foundational, and paves the way for future success.
Not every service guarantees profit, but if you can show how your service contributes to meaningful progress, you’ve already delivered value.

So before your next pitch, ask yourself: Am I promising more than I can deliver? Am I offering something that truly helps this person move forward? When your pitch aligns with their needs and aspirations, the respect and trust you earn will be worth more than any sale.
